Meet the Cast

  • Tanner Zerr* - Shrek

    Tanner (he/him) is a graduate of Studio 58. He is also a recipient of the Carol Chrisjohn Scholarship, the 2022 E.V. Young Award for Outstanding Performance at Theatre Under the Stars, and the 2023 Ovation Award for Outstanding Newcomer. Some of Tanner’s recent work includes Jersey Boys and Disney’s Frozen (Arts Club Theatre Company, Oliver! (Gateway Theatre), Two Gentleman of Verona and Much Ado About Nothing (Bard on the Beach), and Parade (Raincity Theatre). Donning the green ears has been a long-time goal and he’s incredible honoured to be part of this wonderful group of artists.

  • Madison Simms - Fiona

    Madison is delighted to be making her RCMT debut and to be returning to the role of Princess Fiona! She has a certificate in acting from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and has worked abroad with Disney Cruise Line and the Shanghai Disney Resort as an actor, dancer, and vocalist. Her favourite credits include Margot in Legally Blonde (TUTS); Essie in Parade (Raincity Theatre); Fiona in Shrek the Musical (Align Entertainment); and Rosie in Cabaret (Tomo Suru Players). When she’s not performing, Madison teaches dance in studios, community centres, and public schools across the Lower Mainland.

  • Chris Francisque - Donkey

    Born and raised in Montreal, Chris made his theatrical-debut in Surrey Little Theatre’s production of Truth and Reconciliation in 2015, for which he won two Best Supporting actor awards. He has also been featured in numerous commercials, booked film and television roles for Netflix, Disney, Nickelodeon, Amazon Prime, Hallmark, and Lifetime. In 2020 he won his first Jessie Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for his portrayal of Franco Wicks in Superior Donuts.

  • Kamyar Pazandeh* - Lord Farquaad

    Kamyar is delighted to make his Royal City Debut! Favourite roles include: Dr. Pomatter in Waitress (Arts Club, Grand, Aquarius); Nick Bottom in Something Rotten! (TUTS); Gaston in Beauty and the Beast; Barry Mann in Beautiful; Kristoff in Frozen (Arts Club); Ned Alleyn in Shakespeare in Love; Lucentio in The Taming of the Shrew; Pericles in Pericles (Bard on the Beach); Prince Topher in Cinderella (Gateway); Kevin J and others in Come From Away (Gander). Kamyar is a Jessie Award nominee and two-time Ovation! Award winner. He is a Graduate of Studio 58. @kamyarpazandeh

  • Alexis Hope - Dragon

    Alexis Hope is thrilled to be working with RCMT this spring. Born and raised in Calgary, she is an award-winning performer, writer and producer. After graduating from the VanArts Acting for Film & TV program, she co-founded Girls That Giggle Productions, a Vancouver-based, women-led indie film production company. She thrives on creating, and collaborating on, projects that highlight Black joy, womanhood, and her faith. Recent credits: Die Harsh: A Christmas Musical (Grindstone Theatre); The Mad Ones (Sherwood Theatre); Sister Act (Theatre In The Country); Monster (Direct Theatre Collective); Parade (Raincity Theatre); The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical (CTORA).

  • Eric Timuss - Pinocchio

    Eric is thrilled to be making his debut with RCMT! Eric is an emerging actor based in Vancouver who has recently graduated from the Musical Theatre program at Capilano University. Recent credits include: Ren McCormack in Footloose (Chemainus Theatre Festival); Kurt Kelly in Heathers (Sherwood Theatre Co), Plankton in SpongeBob the Musical (Capilano University) as well as three seasons with TUTS playing various featured ensemble roles. Eric is incredibly grateful for the Vancouver theatre community and appreciates you for supporting live theatre! He hopes you enjoy the show and encourages everyone to let their freak flag fly!

  • Sarah Houghton - Gingy & Sugar Plum Fairy

    Sarah is elated to be back for RCMT’s Shrek the Musical, and as one of her favourite animated characters, Gingy! With training in film/television from age 11, she’s been pursuing her dream of theatre since 2021, with recent credits including Kelsi in High School Musical (Align Entertainment); New Employee in 9 to 5 (RCMT); Anya in Anastasia (Theatre in the Country); and Katherine in Newsies (Seaquam Theatre Company). Sarah would like to thank her family and friends for their continual support throughout her endevours, and for this phenomenal cast and crew for coming together to put on this swamptastic show!

  • Colton Fyfe - Big Bad Wolf

    Colton is excited to return to working with RCMT for this fantastically wild production. Favourite roles include: Action/Tony US in West Side Story (CTORA); David in R;Link (HYU); Earthworm in James and the Giant Peach (CTORA); and, Charlie Cowell/Harold Hill US in The Music Man (Align Entertainment). Colton is grateful to continue collaborating with inspiring artists and creatives and hopes you enjoy watching his fellow fairytale creatures go for a heck of a ride!

  • Jenny Nguyen - White Rabbit

    Jenny is ecstatic to be back with RCMT for her third year! A graduate of the Canadian College of Performing Arts, she has had the privilege of traveling to Guangzhou, China, for a cultural exchange, toured BC and Alberta with Story Theatre Co., and attending a 2-week intensive with Joffrey Ballet School in New York City. Jenny is grateful to her friends/family for their unwavering support of her passion for the arts. Favorite roles include Miss Electricity/Violet in Miss Electricity (Beach House Theatre), Sister Mary Leo in Nunsense (First Impression Theatre), and Theo in Pippin (Play on Words).   

  • Tony Dizon - Pig 1

    Originally hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Tony (he/they) began his love for musical theatre after watching countless rewatches of Disney’s Mulan. A graduate of Capilano University’s Musical Theatre program, he is excited to be making his debut with RCMT and can’t wait to share this adventure with all of you. Favourite credits include: Simeon in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat (Metro Theatre); The Mysterious Man in Into The Woods (Play on Words); Mr. Spencer-Williams in School of Rock (T.U.T.S); Mr. Krabs in Spongebob: The Broadway Musical (Blueshore Theatre)

  • Troy Banks - Pig 2 / Bishop

    Troy Banks is incredibly thankful for the opportunity to be working with RCMT again! He is a Steveston-born performer and a graduate of the Capilano University Musical Theatre program. Troy has a few upcoming projects, such as The Little Mermaid (TUTS) and Olaf in Frozen (Kelowna Actors Studio). Some previous credits include 9 to 5 (RCMT), Monster (Direct Theatre Collective), SpongeBob the Musical (Blueshore Theatre), and Cabaret (Arbutus Studio). He hopes you enjoy this amazing show and have as much fun watching it as he does on stage!

  • Simon Abraham - Pig 3

    Simon is excited to return to RCMT in their production of Shrek the Musical. Simon is a graduate of Capilano University’s Musical Theatre program. Past credits include: Ensemble/Dick and Bob understudy in 9 to 5 the Musical, Robertson Ay in Mary Poppins and Mingo in Crazy For You (RCMT); Marcellus in The Music Man, Ensemble/LeFou understudy in Beauty and the Beast and Wickersham #1 in Seussical (Align); Apostle in Godspell (Play on Words); and Francis Flute/Shylock understudy in Something Rotten (TUTS). Simon would like to thank the creative team and the cast and crew for an amazing experience.

  • Kadia Kindersley - Wicked Witch

    Kadia is a performer from Coquitlam. Some of her favourite past roles are: Catherine in Pippin (Play on Words); Stoner Chick in Heathers (Sherwood Theatre); Jellylorum in Cats (TUTS); Acrobat in Matilda (TUTS); and Freida in Carrie (Capilano University). She is so happy to be putting on this show with such an amazing cast and crew. She would like to thank her family and friends, especially her mum and dad who have always supported her.

  • Pier Francesco - Peter Pan / Pied Piper

    Pier is a Brazilian actor and voice artist with a broad background in theatre, film and Voice Over. His stage experience includes roles in major musical productions such as Motel in Fiddler on the Roof, Lamar in Godspell, Ensemble in Urinetown, and Robert in Lord of the Flies. A graduate of Vancouver Film School, he is also an accomplished voice artist who has dubbed several animated and live-action content for Disney Channel, Discovery Kids, and Netflix. Recent works include Mark Cohen in RENT (Metro Theatre), Lewis in BOUND! The Musical (Metro Theatre), and Boomies in WeeBoom (Split Studio).

  • Amy Jean McElwain - Fairy Godmother

    Amy Jean is absolutely thrilled to perform in this exciting show, her second with RCMT! In the past, she has also worked with POW Productions, Align Entertainment, TUTS, and Footlight Theatre in Vancouver. After ten years touring Canada and the USA with Koba Entertainment in family favourite shows such as Shopkins! Live, Dora the Explorer, Toopy & Binoo, The Backyardigans, and more, Amy Jean returned to Vancouver and completed her BA in Psychology. Since then she has been finding her way back to the stage again. HUGE thanks to her family and friends for your unending support. Enjoy the show!

  • Heather Mislang - Mama Bear

    Heather Mislang (They/She) is an emerging performer from Whitehorse, Yukon, who studied at the Canadian College of Performing Arts in Victoria, BC. Her favourite roles include: Enid Hoopes in Legally Blonde (TUTS); Black Stache in Peter and the Starcatcher; Mr. Phillips in Anne of Green Gables - The Musical (CCPA); and Éponine in Les Misérables (YTYP). When she isn’t acting, Heather is using her background in classical and jazz music to build her career as a film and theatre composer and music director. She is super excited to be a part of Shrek the Musical with Royal City Musical Theatre.

  • Matthew Valinho - Papa Bear

    Matthew is delighted to be making his debut with RCMT. Favourite credits include: Troy Bolton in High School Musical (Align Entertainment); Ensemble in Annie (Gateway Theatre), Benny in Rent (Metro Theatre), Chino in West Side Story (CTORA); Ned Schneebly in School of Rock (TUTS); and Trent Oliver in the Prom (TUTS). He is a recipient of the E.V. Young Award for Outstanding Performance from Theatre Under the Stars, and a CYT Award. Look for Matthew this summer as Joey in Theatre Under the Stars’ production of Sister Act. Education: UBC.

  • Statia Benny - Baby Bear

    Statia is a Vancouver based theatre artist. She’s a graduate of the Canadian College of Performing Arts in her hometown of Victoria, where she completed their three year multidisciplinary intensive program, honing skills in acting, singing, and dance. Vancouver stage credits include: Detritus in The Little Mermaid: A Pantomime (RCTC); Heathers: The Musical (Sherwood Theatre); The Wizard of Oz (CTORA); and Matilda The Musical (TUTS). Additionally, Statia had the opportunity to create Broadway themed dining experiences in restaurants as part of a trio, where she loved getting to perform while interacting more directly with audiences.

  • Madison Raybould - Ugly Duckling / 3 Blind Mice

    Madison is so excited to be a part of the swamp! She is a graduate of Capilano University’s Musical Theatre program and a recipient of the Aida Broadbent Award for Professional Conduct and Performance. Select credits include Kelly in The Mad Ones (Sherwood Theatre), Serena in Legally Blonde (TUTS), Alice Spencer in Alice by Heart (Capilano Theatre), and Sandy Cheeks in The SpongeBob Musical (FVMT). Up next, you can see Madison in Theatre Under the Stars’ production of The Little Mermaid. When not on stage, Madison can be found painting, colouring, or crafting! She hopes you enjoy the show.

  • Alyson Vance - Mad Hatter / 3 Blind Mice

    Alyson is an interdisciplinary artist with a passion for musical theatre. She is a graduate of Studio 58, and has had extensive training in dance including at Harbour Dance Centre in their Intensive Training Program. Alyson is currently represented by Lucas Talent Agency. Some of her recent works include: Cinderella in Cinderella! A Traditional British Pantomime (Metro Theatre), Rapunzel in Into the Woods (Studio 58), and Ensemble in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella (Gateway Theatre). She couldn’t be happier to be working on this show with this amazing team. Catch her as Sister Mary Robert in Sister Act this summer at TUTS!

  • Amanda Spinosa** - Humpty Dumpty / 3 Blind Mice

    Amanda is delighted to tumble into the magical world of Shrek. It’s her second show with RCMT – she was part of the Children’s Ensemble in Joseph…Dreamcoat many years ago. After graduating from CapU’s Musical Theatre Program, she took a hiatus to pursue film/TV. She recently returned to the stage as Emily in Bound! The Musical: In Concert (Bound MT Society & Metro Theatre), and as The Good Fairy in her first pantomime, The Little Mermaid (RCTC). Amanda would like to extend immense gratitude to everyone involved in bringing this show to life, and her family and friends for their endless support. Enjoy our story!

  • Camille Griffiths - The Shoemakers' Elf

    Camille Griffiths is thrilled to be making her RCMT debut in Shrek. She is delighted to be part of a show that celebrates silliness, heart, and unapologetic joy. Camille would not be able to fully commit to the art of clowning around without the constant love, encouragement, and patience of her incredible family and friends, who support her creative chaos in all its forms.   • Amanda Russell - Mama Ogre

    Amanda has been performing for over 20 years with companies throughout B.C., including Victoria Operatic Society, Theatre Under the Stars, and Align Entertainment. Favourite credits include: Connie in Tony and Tina’s Wedding (HammerUp Productions); Betty Jean in The Marvellous Wonderettes (Vagabond Players); and, The Cat in Seussical the Musical (Align Entertainment). When not performing, Amanda teaches dance and drama to elementary school students for the Maple Ridge school district. She would like to thank you for supporting local theatre!

  • Thomas Schultes - Papa Ogre / Greeter

    Thomas (he/him) is a local performer, director, and theatre creative based in New Westminster. After graduating from Capilano University’s Musical Theatre program in 2022, Thomas went on to found Sherwood Theatre, a non-profit theatre company that showcases local emerging artists. For RCMT: Ensemble in Mary Poppins, Custus/Perkins in Crazy for You. Selected credits include Bobby Strong in Urinetown (CapU Theatre), The Escapologist in Matilda (TUTS), and Wickersham Brother in Seussical (Align Entertainment).   • Spencer Swift - Captain of the Guard

    Spencer Swift is incredibly excited to be a part of this production of Shrek the Musical. This is their third production with RCMT, having appeared as Valentine/Dance Ensemble in their production of Mary Poppins (RCMT) as well as Dick/Dance Ensemble for 9 to 5 the Musical. Spencer also recently made an appearance as Ram’s Dad/Big Bud Dean in Heathers (Sherwood Theatre Co). Spencer is a graduate of Capilano University's Musical Theatre department. Spencer hopes that you enjoy the show, and can’t wait to see you at the next one.

  • Claire Stewart - Swing

    Claire is thrilled to return to the stage after recently completing an MFA in Musical Theatre at the Guildford School of Acting. Selected credits include: Maria in Lend Me A Tenor (Metro Theatre), Mrs. Gloop in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (TUTS) Hannah and Female US in Newsies (TUTS), 9 to 5 The Musical (RCMT), Cinderella Panto (Yvonne Arnaud), Amour, the Velveteen Daughter (Guildford School of Acting), Alice in Wonderland the Panto (Metro Theatre), The Very First Circus, The Library Club (Story Theatre). Meet our Youth Ensemble

  • Nora Cowan - Yong Fiona

    Nora is thrilled to make her RCMT debut as Young Fiona in Shrek and feels incredibly grateful to work with the talented creative team, cast, and crew at RCMT. Nora recently starred as Young Elsa in FROZEN: The Broadway Musical (Arts Club Theatre Company-2025/26). Other recent credits for The Arts Club include: Tiny Tim/Ensemble -Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol-2024; Children’s Chorus -Elf-2023; Gretl VonTrapp -The Sound of Music-2022, and upcoming voice-over/ lead: Rosie in Peg Pals animated series.   • Hannah Durnin - Young Fiona

    Hannah is overjoyed to be part of Shrek the Musical as Young Fiona. Recent roles: Young Anastasia in Anastasia (Gallery 7); Ensemble in The Little Mermaid (R.C.T.C); Young Kangaroo in Seussical (P.L.A.Y. Society); Molly in Annie (P.L.A.Y. Society). She received the 2025 Spirit of Theatre C.Y.T. Award for Michael in Mary Poppins (T.I.C.). Offstage, Hannah is likely reading a good book, playing piano, singing and dancing, or watching a movie.   • Alicia Malelang - Teen Fiona

    Alicia is thrilled to be doing her first show with Royal City Musical Theatre! You might have seen her on stage recently in High School Musical on Stage! (Align Entertainment). Alicia is a passionate performer who frequently competes in performing arts festivals. Most recently, she placed first in Intermediate Musical Theatre in the VAYA International Music Festival and first in Senior Musical Theatre in the BC Performing Arts Festival. She is a soon-to-be graduate from Archbishop Carney Secondary School, where she recently played Anna in Frozen. She would like to thank her family and her voice teacher, Margo Levae, for supporting her through every step of her performing journey.

  • Kalayna Kozak** - Teen Fiona

    This is Kalayna’s first professional-level production, and she is thrilled to step into the role of Teen Fiona in Shrek. Favourite past roles include Fiona in Shrek Jr.; Kathy in Singin’ in the Rain Jr.; and Anna in Frozen Jr. She trains at Lindbjerg Academy, is a proud participant in the Kay Meek Conservatory Program, and studies both dance and voice to continue growing as a triple-threat performer. She would like to thank her teachers, family, and friends for their constant support and encouragement. Enjoy the show!

  • Preston Culili - Young Shrek

    Preston is so excited to be performing in his first RCMT Production, Shrek the Musical. Preston discovered his passion for Musical Theatre when he played the role of Bruce in Matilda (TUTS). He was awarded E.V. Young Award for Outstanding Performance and got nominations in OVATION and CYT Awards for this performance. He is studying Musical Theatre, Tap and Hip-Hop dancing in Lindbjerg Academy of Performing Arts. Preston enjoys singing, drawing and making music with the Piano, Ukelele and Trumpet. He would like to thank God for his talents and his family and teachers for their guidance and support!   

  • Riley Calderwood - Young Shrek

    Riley is very active in film, television, voicework, and commercials and has been involved in the performing arts since he was three years old. He has performed in several shows with Stagecoach Theatre School, Showstoppers Musical Theatre, Lindbjerg Academy, and at his school. Most recently, Riley played Winthrop in The Music Man with Align Entertainment. Riley is excited and grateful to be a part of his second show with Royal City Musical Theatre after playing Michael Banks in Mary Poppins two years ago (Ovation Award nominee for best youth performance). He would like to thank Chris Adams, Angus Kellett, Tracey Power and the rest of the crew and production team for this amazing opportunity to tell this enchanting story!
