Royal City Musical Theatre Society (RCMT), a long-standing producer of large-scale musical theatre in New Westminster, BC, is seeking an experienced Choreographer for our upcoming 2026 production of Shrek the Musical, directed by Chris Adams.

Important Dates

• Auditions: October 16–26, 2025 (New Westminster)
  
  

• Rehearsals: Feb 22nd – April 8th, 2026
  
  

• Tech: April 11th–16th, 2026
  
  

• Previews: April 17th & 18th, 2026
  
  

• Opening: April 18th, 2026

• Venue: Massey Theatre, New Westminster, BC

This is an Equity position, contracted under the DOT Policy. Non-Equity artists may also be considered. We thank all applicants for their interest. Those selected for an interview will be contacted to arrange a mutually convenient time.

About the Role

We are looking for a visionary and collaborative choreographer with strong storytelling instincts and experience working on large-scale musicals. The choreographer will be responsible for designing and teaching original choreography that brings energy, character, and cohesion to this vibrant production.

A strong ability to work with a broad range of dancers—from seasoned professionals to emerging artists—is essential. You will work closely with the director, music director, and production team to realize the creative vision and maintain a supportive, inclusive rehearsal environment.

Ideal Candidate

• Experienced in choreographing full-length musicals, preferably with large ensembles
  
  

• Comfortable working within Equity guidelines and collaborating with professional teams
  
  

• Skilled in a variety of movement styles appropriate for musical theatre
  
  

• Strong communicator with excellent time management and leadership abilities
  
  

• Previous experience with youth or community-integrated performers is an asset
